The story 2019
On Saturday 29 June 2019, 15 runners will take on 24 parkruns in 24 hours to raise money for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. The 2019 route will see the Mallusk Harriers begin at Portrush Parkrun at 9.30am and then 23 parkruns later finish in Ennniskillen….just a little more tired than when they started!
The concept for this challenge began in 2017 when Mallusk Harrier Alan Ladd had a crazy vision to run all 24 parkruns in Northern Ireland in 24 hours to raise money for Action Cancer in memory of his mum. 9 Runners took the challenge on and we were overwhelmed by the support the running community gave as we raised £10,000 for Action Cancer.
The organisation for the 2019 24in24 started last year and has taken an immense amount of time, good will, begging, borrowing, patience and planning to get to the big day. We have had many kids offers of help which we have gladly accepted with open arms.
We cannot do this without the support of our running community, friends, family, strangers, sponsors, and our parkrunning family.
The sun will hopefully be shining on the team on Saturday and we would encourage you to come out and support us, run with us…..but please donate whatever you can to help us help the NI Children’s Hospice help more families in need. We have a set ourselves a £10k target – which we would love to smash! Please click here to donate!
